About the university

Established in 1974, Griffith College is Ireland's largest independent third level institution with locations in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

The main campus in Dublin is located one mile from St. Stephen's Green on Dublin's Southern Ring Road. Set on seven acres and offering a wide range of amenities, it is a historic site with authentic campus buildings dating back to 1813.

50 years griffith

The college has an important event coming up in 2024, when it will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Over the past half century, Griffith College has made a significant contribution to education in Ireland. Many former students have gone on to build enviable careers in Ireland and internationally in fields as diverse as accountancy, business, computing, design, engineering, law, media, music and drama. Their current students continue this tradition of success.

Among those awarded for distinguished achievement and contribution to the college are Mary McAleese, the 8th President of Ireland, and Nobel Laureates Seamus Heaney and John Hume.

Locations and Campuses

Dublin - Griffith College City Center

In 2008, Griffith College began running ACCA classes in Dublin city center to provide a full and flexible service to students from the greater Dublin area.

Over time, the number and scope of classes expands. In 2018, Griffith College opened a state-of-the-art learning facility, Griffith College City Center on Wolfe Tone Street. Griffith College City Center is located next to Dublin's busiest shopping area with Arnotts and the Ilac Center nearby. It is easily accessible by public transport with the nearby red and green Luas lines and all buses serving O'Connell Street and the River Liffey quays. Dublinbikes is also on the doorstep.

Cork – Griffith College Cork

Griffith College was first established in Cork in 1998 with the School of Professional Accountancy. In June 2005, Griffith College Cork merged with Skerry College. Skerry's College has been at the forefront of education in Cork since 1884.

Griffith College Cork runs a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate programs in law, business, accountancy, computer science and pharmaceutical business management, as well as professional programs in law and accountancy.

Limerick - Griffith College Limerick

In September 2006, Griffith College acquired the Mid West Business Institute (MWBI) and became Griffith College Limerick. The new association continued the proud traditions and reputation of the two institutions which were founded in 1974 and 1988 respectively.

The Limerick campus offers a wide range of full-time, part-time and blended learning programmes. Internationally recognized qualifications ranging from Level 6 to Level 9 of the Irish Framework for Qualifications (NFQ) are available in accountancy, business, IT, engineering and hospitality through validating partners; QQI, ACCA, Heriot-Watt University, BTEC and ICM.

At the Limerick campus, students can expect smaller groups and individual attention from both faculty and staff in a student-centered, supportive learning environment. Students are supported in their academic studies. The main goal is for all students to reach their full potential and be ready to embark on their career path in their chosen field.

Accommodation in the Different Locations

Dublin Students studying in Dublin can take advantage of the Griffith Halls of Residence. It houses over 600 students and is within walking distance of Dublin city center on the Southern Ring Road.

Health/Medical Services

The college has an agreement with a local medical organization that recognizes the European Health Insurance Card and also offers a 10% discount for students who do not have the card.

Cork City Medical Centre, located on Patrick's Street, is the recommended medical center for students.

There are many medical services close to Griffith College Limerick. The college has an agreement with a nearby GP and dental clinic offering student discounts, as well as a pharmacy offering a 10% discount on all prescriptions.
