Most US universities are application-based, and application packages and scholarship offers depend on high SAT/ACT scores and impressive essays.

Application deadlines

Different universities have different deadlines. It is recommended to start preparing for your application about two years before the actual submission of documents, which in some universities can happen even about a year before the actual start of the academic year.

Health insurance

One of the requirements for all international students in the US is to have health insurance - the coverage of the services in it depends on the plan that your university offers, as well as the cost, which can be from $1,000 to $3,000 per year.

Currency

In the US, the currency is the US dollar. The exchange rate is 0.62 USD = 1 BGN.

International students in the US can only work on their university campuses for up to 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 hours outside of the semester.

International students in the US apply for a visa to travel and stay in the country – F1 or J1. The application fee for it is about $500.
